A type a charger is typically the standard rectangular USB-A connector most commonly found on older chargers and computers. This port has been popular over many years to join charging cables to smart phones and tablets among other electronics. The plug on one end of the cable normally fits into USB-A connector, and the other end is usually connected to Micro-USB, Lightning or USB-C. Newer chargers have switched to USB-C to provide improved speed and power delivery, however, USB-A chargers continue to be used in a large number of households and offices as well as the older charging adapters.
