Starting my first freelance gig how do I handle the tax math?

Hi everyone,

I’ve recently started taking on small graphic design projects for local businesses, and I’m a bit confused about how to structure my invoices.

My neighbor, who is a veteran freelancer, told me that I need to learn how to calculate vat properly so I don't accidentally undercharge my clients or get into trouble with the tax man.

I want to make sure my pricing is transparent and professional right from the start of my journey. It’s a bit of a headache for someone who isn't great with numbers. Does anyone have a simple formula for how to calculate vat?
