I have a Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB that I have been using as my secondary storage drive for about two years now and it has never given me a single problem. Last night Windows pushed through an automatic update and after the restart the drive has completely disappeared from File Explorer and Disk Management.
The SSD is still showing up in BIOS so I know the connection is fine and the drive itself is being detected at hardware level but Windows just refuses to acknowledge it exists. All my project files and personal documents are sitting on that drive and I haven't backed anything up recently which is making me pretty anxious right now.
I have already tried reinstalling the NVMe drivers and switching the M.2 slot but nothing has changed so far. Is this a known issue with recent Windows updates or could the drive actually be failing? And if it turns out the drive is done for good, where do people usually shop for reliable SSDs at decent prices without getting something that dies within months? I didn't surfed through the internet and researched, but this time I am doing and I found some platforms like Amazon , Ebay and Etech Devices but I don't know can I trust them or not
