Should I make a gravel pad for my shed? Need advice

Hello everyone. We decided to put up a small shed on our property, but haven't decided on the foundation yet. Concrete seems reliable, but expensive. A friend advised us to make a gravel pad, he said it was cheaper and faster. But how durable is it? Will the shed float after the rain? Maybe someone has experience with this solution? Please share what is better to choose and what to pay attention to during installation. I would like to not spend extra money and do everything once and for a long time. Thanks in advance for your advice!

We chose a gravel base for the shed, and I will say - this is the best thing you can do in terms of price and quality. We installed it with Site Prep, they organized everything very quickly - everything was ready in literally a day. We chose https://www.siteprep.com/gravel-stone-pad/ : 4x6 perimeter and weed control fabric. After a downpour, there are no puddles or distortions - the shed is as if dug in. Plus, less fuss with maintenance, because gravel drains water perfectly. The main thing is to choose a proven team that will lay everything correctly. So I definitely recommend it, especially if you don’t want to overpay for concrete.

Interesting topic, I’m also thinking about building shed. I’m glad I found the discussion, and thanks for links and advice. I would never have thought that gravel could be such a reliable option. Perhaps I will also consider this option - it looks practical and convenient.
