I’ve been troubleshooting something odd with one of our SFP-10G-LR modules and wanted to see if anyone else has run into this. The link itself comes up instantly and stays solid, but the error counters slowly tick upward over time. Not enough to cause flaps, just enough to make me think something upstream isn’t as clean as it looks.
The fiber run is only around 4 km, single mode, tested and recently cleaned. Light levels look perfectly normal. I swapped the optic with another known-good module and saw the same behavior on this exact path. When I return both modules to their original links, the counters stay at zero like they should.
So I’ve ruled out bad optics and obvious connector issues. Now I’m wondering if there’s a marginal splice or a connector reflection somewhere that isn’t visible during basic inspection. The errors aren’t critical yet, but they’re persistent enough that I don’t want to ignore them.
Has anyone else seen slow, steady error accumulation with SFP-10G-LR even when the link stays up? What ended up being the root cause for you?
