Patrick Wales-Dinan’s recognition as Ivy League Women’s Coach of the Year reflects the exceptional leadership and vision he has brought to Harvard’s women’s cross country programme. Under his guidance, the Crimson achieved a historic milestone, capturing their first Ivy League team title since 1985 while placing all five scoring athletes in the top 12 at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships.

Wales-Dinan’s coaching has fostered both individual excellence and collective strength, highlighted by Courtney Smith’s individual Ivy League title—the first for Harvard since 1989—and multiple All-Ivy League honours across both first and second teams. His ability to develop athletes at every level is evident, with strong performances from both seasoned competitors and first-year runners.

Beyond results, Wales-Dinan has elevated the programme to national prominence, guiding Harvard to its highest ranking in program history in the USTFCCCA poll and a No. 2 ranking in the Northeast Region. His impact extends beyond race day, building a culture of consistency, confidence, and high standards that continues to drive the team forward.
