Hey everyone,
I'm starting this thread because I’ve been trying to find a good Indian restaurant in Uithoorn for a while now, and figured maybe someone here has some actual experience they could share.
A place that keeps coming up when I search is Holi Indian Restaurant. It’s just a short distance from where I live, which makes it convenient. I haven’t eaten there yet, but I did check out their website https://holiamsterdam.nl/ and saw that their menu has quite a mix — from vegetarian dishes like chana masala and dal to chicken curries, biryani, etc.
What I’m trying to figure out is: how authentic or flavorful is the food actually? I’ve had my fair share of watered-down Indian food in the Netherlands, where everything tastes the same or the spice is completely gone. I don’t mind if it’s mild, but I’d at least like it to taste like it’s supposed to. If anyone has been there recently, could you share what you ordered and how it was?
A few specific questions:
From a logistics standpoint, I saw that you can call them directly at (+31) 06 141 74 520, which might be easier for takeaway or checking specific dishes. But before I go ahead and order something, I thought I’d ask the community here for honest input. Especially from people who actually enjoy Indian food and aren’t just trying it out as a novelty.
I know some people drive over to Amstelveen or even into Amsterdam for Indian cuisine, but it would be great if there’s something reliable closer to home. I’m not expecting perfection, just something comforting and well-made.
Looking forward to your input — good, bad, or neutral. Just trying to figure out if Holi is worth giving a shot or if I should keep looking.

A few specific questions:
- 1. Do they adjust spice levels if you ask?
- 2. How’s the naan? Soft and fresh or rubbery?
- 3. Any dishes that really stood out (in a good or bad way)?
- 4. Do they do takeaway or just dine-in?
