Is legal representation necessary for Uber assault cases?

Some people say it’s possible to deal directly with the company or insurance, while others insist that a lawyer is essential. I’m trying to understand if survivors really need formal legal representation or if there are cases where people manage on their own.

Survivors technically can try to handle matters directly with rideshare companies, but the risks are significant. Companies often attempt to minimize liability or push for low settlements. Working with attorneys ensures victims don’t get pressured into unfair agreements. A lawsuit against Uber can be complex, involving both civil and sometimes criminal aspects, so legal guidance is critical for navigating deadlines, evidence, and negotiations. Attorneys also provide emotional support by managing communications with the company. While self-representation might look like a way to save money, the chances of receiving fair compensation without a lawyer are extremely slim.
