Is AI Becoming Essential for Finance & Risk Management Professionals?

The finance industry is changing rapidly with AI, machine learning, Generative AI, and advanced risk analytics becoming a core part of investment, compliance, credit risk, and regulatory functions. Many organizations are now looking for professionals who can combine financial expertise with AI-driven decision-making.

I recently came across an AI in Finance and Risk Management program from EICTA Consortium that focuses on areas such as:

• Machine Learning for risk modeling and forecasting
• Generative AI and Agentic AI in finance
• Credit, market, and operational risk analytics
• AI governance and regulatory compliance
• Knowledge Graphs and AI-powered financial intelligence
• A capstone project on building AI-driven risk solutions for real-world use cases

What caught my attention is that the curriculum goes beyond theory and covers practical applications of AI in BFSI, investment research, compliance, and risk monitoring using tools like Python and ML frameworks.
