There are two parts in the paper. Part A will test you on Visualisation and spatial ability, Environmental and social awareness,Analytical and logical reasoning,Language and creativity,Design thinking and problem solving and Observation and design sensitivity.
Part B will test you on drawing, creativity, analytical and problem solving skills and communication.
Here are some tips that would help you prepare for CEED exam:
Practice the previous years’ papers. It will help you understand various levels of questions as well as the type of questions asked.
Crash course conducted by DQ Labs is immensely helpful. Their website DQ Edge also provides mock papers and has a platform to ask doubts and discuss concepts.
Get a hold on the syllabus. Go through every question in Part A and note the concepts they are asked from so that you have a lit of the topics you can study.
Practice free hand drawing as you will not be allowed to use instruments during the exam. Practising for atleast 30 minutes a day will help you get better.
Questions asked in Part A is not always on design and architecture. There will be questions on symbols, artists, paintings and Indian History, temples and geography.
Learn to sketch still life. Some questions ask you to sketch a fruit bowl or a soft drink bottle. Check out still life sketching tutorials on YouTube to practice.
Read comic strips. It will help you learn to build a storyboard as some questions are asked to be represented as a storyline.
Try solving Tangram, non-verbal and pictionary to improve observational skills.
Check websites like Behance, Swiss Minimalist, Car design news, Coroflot(Industrial and Furniture design), Dezeen (architectural design) for portfolios. These websites have international portfolios that would help students to gain a perspective on design and layouts.
