How reliable are thermal printers in the field?

Working on the road, I constantly carry various devices that are often dropped, scratched, and wet. So, I'm genuinely curious whether modern thermal printers can withstand the conditions they claim, or if they're more suited to the office.
How reliable are they in the field?

Many modern thermal printers, especially compact models intended for couriers, technicians, or mobile salespeople, are designed with field conditions in mind. For example, a printer designed for printing black friday shipping label printer often comes with a ruggedized housing and features convenient for portable use, making it much more resilient to extreme conditions than traditional desktop printers.

From my experience, modern thermal expert printers are surprisingly durable in the field. Most models are built with shock-resistant casings and have some water and dust protection, so they handle drops and rough conditions better than you’d expect. Of course, keeping them in a padded case helps, but for outdoor and on-the-go work, they are generally very reliable.
