Tips To Crack CEED Exam In One Month

CEED is an entrance test for Postgraduate studies,which tests a student on their creative,observational,logical and drawing skills. Since cracking creative exam is tricky,here are some tips that would help a student score well.



The paper is marked out of 100. It has two parts:-

Part A - Multiple choice questions is for 50 marks. It will test you on Visualisation and spatial ability, Environmental and social awareness,Analytical and logical reasoning,Language and creativity,Design thinking and problem solving and Observation and design sensitivity.



Part B - Divided into two parts again: Part B will usually test you on drawing,creativity,Communication skills and Analytical and problem solving skills.

Both parts is totally marked out of 50. They are the most time consuming parts of the CEED paper.



For Part A :



Go through previous years’ CEED papers. It will help you understand the various levels of questions as well as the types of questions asked.


It is advisable to join crash courses. Coaching centres like DQ Labs provides crash courses with experienced designers as tutors.


Check websites like Behance, Swiss Minimalist, Car design news, Coroflot(Industrial and Furniture design), Dezeen (architectural design) for portfolios. These websites have international portfolios that would help students to gain a perspective on design and layouts.


Watch YouTube tutorials on design sketching. DQ Labs have tutorials online on YouTube for students to practice.


Questions asked in Part A is not always on design and architecture. There will be questions on symbols,artists,paintings and Indian History,temples and geography. It has various types of tutorials for CEED entrance exam.
Part B -

Practice free hand drawing, as you will not be allowed to use instruments during the exam. Practising for at least 30 minutes a day will help you get better.


Visualise what you want to put on paper so that your ideas can come across well to the evaluator.


You can capture most information just by observing small things. Check Tangram, non-verbal and pictorial puzzles to improve observational skills.


Read comic strips. It helps you to learn story building. Some questions are asked to be represented as a storyline.


Think of different ways to present your answer as the evaluator expects clear and accurate ideas to be put across well.
