National Institute of Design (NID) conducted the Design Aptitude Test in the month of January. Admissions are offered on the basis of the candidate’s performance in the exam (both B.Des and M.Des).
NID is expected to declare the counselling NID DAT 2018 post the last week of May. The qualified candidates (who have gotten through the Prelims and Mains) are required to submit the preferences (for programmes of their choices) - only by doing this, they are considered for the next stage of the admission process. Admission will be given to students for B.Des to fill up 100 seats. Students who have qualified the two stages of NID DAT - the Prelims and Mains are eligible to attend the counselling. B.Des admissions will be provided at the NID Ahmedabad campus on the basis of it’s selection methods. Candidates will be filtered and selected on the basis of design aptitude, visual and creative skills, aptitude and the thought process used to create projects and answer questions (beyond academic qualifications).
The Counselling will include the following events:
Declaration of the NID DAT 2018 final result for B.Des
Document verification
Fee payment and completion of admission formalities
Orientation programme
Documents Required:
Birth Certificate
10th grade Marksheet
12th grade Marksheet
Degree Marksheet (M.Des)
OBC/SC/ST candidates have to submit category certificates
For overseas category candidates, submit first and last page of passport or equivalent certificate

Acceptance letter (with the student’s signature)
Demand Draft (in the name of NID)
Counselling Schedule:
Online preference process ( Selection process starts May last week and goes until June first week)
Online preference process for PwD reserved category starts and ends in the first week of June, for OPEN, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, the process begins and ends in the second week of June
Uploading of scanned documents for all categories starts 2nd week of June and ends 3rd week of June
Commencement of academic session (3rd week of July)
