Hello everyone! I have synthesis essay due soon. The teacher gave me several sources, but how do I properly collect the information and make a coherent essay out of it? I don't just need to retell it, I need to somehow tie it all together, show my position. Can someone explain in simple terms how to build such an essay? It is especially unclear how to write an introduction and conclusion, and what should be in the main part.

Here is a good explanation on the website https://www.ozessay.com.au/blog/synthesis-essay/ , they talk in detail about the structure and what's what. In the introduction, you need to identify the topic and formulate a thesis - your main idea that you will work with. The main part is several paragraphs where you develop your arguments and support them with facts from the sources. At the end is the conclusion, where you briefly summarize and leave the reader with some kind of conclusion or question. The main thing is not just to list, but to connect the information, show your position and argue it. If you make a plan correctly and follow the structure, it will be much easier!

The main thing is to thoroughly analyze all the sources, understand which ideas they have in common and which are opposite. Make a plan, where each paragraph will be responsible for one thought or argument. It is better to write the thesis at the very end of the introduction - this way it will logically complete the introductory part and set the direction for the entire essay.

Writing a synthesis essay can feel overwhelming at first, especially when trying to balance multiple sources and ideas into a clear argument. What helped me was studying some of the best essay examples I found on freebooksummary com — seeing how others organized their thoughts and integrated evidence made a big difference. It’s important to focus on understanding the core themes across your sources and then find a way to connect them logically. Taking time to outline your points before writing can also keep things structured and prevent getting lost in details. Remember, synthesis is about combining information to form a new perspective, not just summarizing. With practice and the right examples to guide you, the process becomes more manageable and even enjoyable. Keep your focus on clarity and coherence, and the essay will come together naturally.
