Custom video player with YouTube?

I want have embedded movie trailers on a site I'm working on, but I'd like to have a nice frame around them and preferably custom controls as well. I don't know where to start though; does YouTube have an SDK or something?

You can create a customized Youtube Player at Viewbix - Empower your video. Add apps to any video: YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook. Add a call-to-action. . You take a link to your video from Youtube, insert in in their system and then you can add a customized frame and a logo. But whats really cool about them is you can put apps in your video like a picture album, RSS Feed, Twitter, and lots of other apps

youtube itself provide embed codes for videos and can be easily used in webpages.

If you don't mind hosting the videos yourself, especially if you created the videos, there are also many more off the shelf options to handle this for you. Even HTML5 has specs for playing video within a browser without the need for third party scripts or plugins.

I would also suggest checking out CodeCanyon, as they have a bunch of Wordpress plugins that can do this, as well as non-Wordpress solutions too.

I believe Youtube does give you some options to control the appearance of the player too, but they are buried away in their setup instructions.
