The update included a major rewrite of Google’s entire algorithm, affecting more than 90% of search results.The Hummingbird update is capable of understanding longer and more complex searches. For example, it’s highly tuned for conversational search. That means search queries will use more keywords and the results will be more targeted.

Hummingbird is about synonyms but also about context. Google always had synonyms, but with Hummingbird it is also able to judge context - thereby judging the intent of a person carrying out a search, to determine what they are trying to find out.

Google Hummingbird algorithm affect those websites which takes so much time for loading. In other words, we can say that the websites which has high bounce rate will be penalized by the hummingbird algorithm.
