How Much RAM To Host Joomla Web Site

Guys please tell me how much RAM i would need on a virtual private server in order to host a busy Joomla Website. This is a website that is currently hosted on a shared hosting package but now the hosting company is creating some problems for us and may delete this website as it is using too much resources according to one of their rep when i talked to him over the phone. He then suggested me to go for a VPS but they have multiple packages and i have to choose one of them. Would 512 MB be enough for hosting this Joomla website or should i go for more like 1GB or 1.5 GB.

Yeah, I agree with you that 1 GB RAM is enough.

Below are the some points help you to determine whether you need more or less RAM:

If your site receives a high volume of traffic you’ll need more RAM.
Some server operating systems require more or less RAM.
Dynamic sites require more RAM than static sites.
CMS like WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla require more RAM.
If your site uses caching, then you can get away with lower RAM requirements.
