    UCEED Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for an exam, the eligibility criteria as well its rules and regulations must be read and perused through carefully. The UCEED, like any entrance test, has a set of these that are important for the students to make careful note of.

One of the things that make the UCEED so vied after is that students from any nook and corner of the world are eligible to write the exam. However, there is a particular date that the candidate must have been born on or after to write the test. For 2018, it was that the candidate should have been born on or after October 1, 1993 if belonging to the OPEN or OBC-NCL category and on or after October 1, 1988 if belonging to the SC, ST or PwD category.

The candidates must have also passed the qualifying 10+ 2 examination from their corresponding board, the year before or the year they’re taking the UCEED. The qualifications that are recognized by the UCEED for admissions to the B.Des course are:

Final examination conducted by a recognized Central or State Board.

Intermediate or two year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board or University.

Final exam of the two year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.

Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects.

    H.S.C Vocational Examination

Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education of at least 3 years duration.

General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London, Cambridge or Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) Level.

High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

Candidates who have completed their 12th standard (or equivalent) exam from abroad or from a Board not specified will have to produce a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities stating that the examination qualified by them is equal to 12th standard exam.

If the 12th standard exam is not a public exam, then the candidate should have passed at least one public (Board or Pre-University) exam earlier.

A student can attempt the UCEED a maximum of two times, consecutively. The UCEED score is only valid for the consecutive year and cannot be used after that. This information and other details can be found either on the IIT Bombay website or the official UCEED website.
